APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE:
$25.00 - $31.00 PER HOUR
BASIC FUNCTION:
Working with the entire staff of the Office of Planned Giving, the Planned Giving Specialist will perform a variety of analytical, clerical, office management, and donor relation tasks to accomplish the securing, accounting, and administration of life income agreements and bequest gifts. Will be the primary point of contact for donor and prospect calls. Will assist in the management of donor and prospects relations and files pertinent to planned gifts. Duties and responsibilities are varied and often confidential in nature. Technical knowledge of planned giving, the organization, its policies, procedures, systems and personnel are preferred.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists in the management of donor relations and prospect relations pertaining to life income and trusts. Collect, compile, and review information relating to files. Maintain vigilance over gifts as they are received to ensure donated assets are sold and reinvested in a timely basis.
  • Will prepare correspondence for the Senior Director of Planned Giving and Assistant Director of Planned Giving.
  • Prepare non-routine correspondence, respond to inquiries, concerns and requests for information from donors and prospects.
  • Review and prepare periodic special reports for the development office, trustee investment committee, donors, and beneficiaries, or their financial representative. Maintain follow up to the Business Office.
  • Work closely with the real estate office at CUC to ensure deeds are transferred, title searches are completed, and gift transaction appropriate concluded.
  • May be a point of contact with attorneys concerning life income and planned giving prospects and proposals.
  • Will prepare proposals, including personal information (age, value of property, number of children, etc.), develop and prepare the calculations for cost analysis, and prepare final proposal for signature of Director of Planned Giving.
  • Will work with public relations/advertising consultants concerning marketing and advertising.
  • Determines procedures for own work, coordinates with employees and/or supervisors of other departments, and may assign work to part-time clerical employees or student interns in a non-supervisory capacity.
  • Will assist in organizing and managing planned giving training workshops or public seminars including site locations and arrangements, mailings, registrations, and follow up. Ensure accurate collection of monies and payment of invoices.
  • Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION: High school diploma, plus any combination of education, training and/or work experience equivalent to college or business school is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of increasing responsibility in related work experience is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.
Ability to interpret government statutes and regulations and legal documents to determine the proper accounting and administrative procedures for various annuity, life income and trust agreements. Ability to write, organize work, knowledge of mathematical functions, and ability to communicate effectively with donors and prospects.
Must be willing to acquire familiarity with various terminologies, i.e., legal, real estate, income tax, gift tax, and accounting terms.
