$10,000 Bonus

Deer Oaks Med Management Associates is a multi-site psychiatry practice with service locations throughout the United States, providing on-site psychiatric services in long-term care facilities. Our team of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, and physician associates provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy to the residents of our long-term communities. Our practitioners provide these services using an interdisciplinary, collaborative team approach to ensure the combination of therapy techniques and medication are used for the best patient outcomes.

We are hiring a full-time Physician Associate in Kansas City, MO to work with patients with the goal of reducing polypharmacy when appropriate, managing psychiatric medications, and implementing Medicare compliant gradual dose reduction strategies for psychotropic medications.

Our PA's provide direct patient care; stabilize patients, minimize complications, provide physical and psychological support, facilitate restoration of maximal health potential, and evaluate health risk factors. They perform diagnostic assessments, acquire health histories, perform examinations, prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, integrate psychotherapy when appropriate, and manage patients in a nursing facility or assisted living environment.

Specific duties include:

  • Appropriately document medical interventions, including initial patient history, physical examination, review of current medications, labs and other relevant information from the patient’s medical chart, clinical progress and interventions, and collaboration with other applicable healthcare providers.
  • Obtain and accurately document all relevant health history, with an emphasis on mental health history.
  • Perform comprehensive mental health assessment and psychiatric evaluation, to include: mental status, current/past history of violence, suicidal or self-harm behavior, substance use, trauma, sexual behaviors, and social/developmental history.

Qualifications:

The following are requirements for this position:

  • Experience managing and prescribing psychiatric medications
  • Physician Associate License
  • DEA
  • Experience performing psychiatric assessments
  • Providing care for older adults

Full-time availability: 5 days per week (Monday-Friday)
