Overview
As our Physical Therapy Assistant at CHI LakeWood Health, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll help our patients rebuild or maintain their physical wellbeing following an illness, injury, or issues with aging. Using various treatments, you will help patients reduce pain, build strength and endurance, increase range of motion, or develop better balance to keep them functioning at their best level.
You’re always ready for the next task. The Physical Therapy Assistant is a skilled technical worker who performs physical therapy treatments and related duties as assigned by the Physical Therapist. This work is carried out under the direction and assistance of the Physical Therapist. You'll see between 6 to 8 patients daily. Our PTAs perform most treatments under the direction of our Physical Therapist but work independently with the patients. You’ll work with a variety of patients - orthopedic injury or surgery recovery, traumatic brain injury, stroke, or conditions affecting balance, to name a few. This environment is busy and fast-paced but full of collaborative and supportive team members willing to offer help, advice, or mentoring at any time.
To thrive as a PTA, you must be a team player. You’ll constantly collaborate with other physical therapists, patients, and their families to seek the best possible treatment outcome. You should be personable, positive, and motivated to provide quality care to a wide variety of patients every day.

Responsibilities
What you'll do...
- Assists clients to reach his/her maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of his/her capabilities.
- Coordinates Physical Therapy efforts with those of other departments and maintains open communications and good working relations.
- Develops, interprets and applies the departmental policies and procedures.
- Follows hospital policies and procedures and appropriately interprets them.
- Remains clinically proficient in routine work duties of the department.
- Carries out functions as needed for clerical support for Rehab department.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Physical Therapy Assistant Licensed by State of Minnesota (MN).
- Member of or eligible for membership in APTA.
- State valid Driver’s License.
