The Physical Therapist Assistant is a licensed professional who administers physical therapy treatments, working under the direction of and as assistant to the Physical Therapist.

Qualifications:
Graduate of a state-approved school of physical therapy assistant accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association
Two years of long term care or rehabilitation center experience preferred.
Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
CPR certification strongly preferred and encouraged
Indirect Supervision license preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assists the Physical Therapist with development and modification of individualized, goal-directed treatment plans

2. Assists the Physical Therapist with overseeing all aspects of the resident’s care plan implementation

3. Conducts safe and effective resident treatment sessions using the prescribed treatment plan, including resident/family education programs. Communicates resident responses to treatment, changes in care plan needs, and progress toward goals to the Physical Therapist.

4. Assists the PT in conducting screening of residents at regular intervals to determine the need for intervention/treatment

5. Performs appropriate measurements and assessment techniques within the scope of the Physical Therapy Practice Act

6. Documents results of assessment, treatment, follow-up, discharge, and billing notes in an accurate, timely manner in accordance with Standards of Practice, state and federal regulations, and policies/procedures

7. Assists with supervision of physical therapy assistant students, aides, or volunteers as directed by the Physical Therapist
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
SPEAKING
Ability to speak clearly and effectively with residents, families, coworkers and other groups of customers. Ability to read and interpret documents suchas safety rules, policies and procedures, and operating instructions. Ability to write routine reports, notes and correspondence.

HEARING
Hearing level or accommodations sufficient to use the telephone and to communicate with residents, families, coworkers and other groups of customers.

SEEING
Vision level or accommodations sufficient to perform functions to/from/within buildings, rooms, apartments, to complete/review required reports, notes, documentation and to use a computer. Near/far acuity and depth perception are required to operate equipment.

TWISTING/BENDING
Climbing, balancing, stooping, bending and twisting, grasping and feeling, standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, lifting above the head. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or move up to 50 pounds independently.

REPETITIVE MOTIONS
Repetitive motions include writing, typing or entering information on the computer and hand motions that are used to work with the residents.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Temperature range from outside seasonal temperatures to inside temperatures of 65-80 degrees, varying if you work in laundry or kitchen. Each service line has a list of hazardous materials used.

Candidate must be willing to travel to other SNF facilites
