Job Title: Phlebotomist

Department: Phlebotomy

Reports to: Assistant Manager, Phlebotomy


Job Summary:

This position provides phlebotomy coverage for field services including all In-Office Phlebotomists and Patient Service Centers in assigned areas. This role provides collects samples from all patients: pediatric through geriatric. Additionally, this role ensures specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory’s procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing.

Hours:

  • Monday, (8:30a – 6:00p) & Wednesday, (8:30a – 4:00p)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Follows laboratory procedures for specimen collection and handling.
  • Retrieves blood from patients while providing excellent customer service.
  • Enters patient data accurately into an electronic lab information system or manually.
  • Identifies patient data and accurately labels specimens.
  • Performs functions appropriately and uses time management skills to achieve departmental goals.
  • Follows all established guidelines and adheres to company policies and procedures.
  • Packs and prepares samples for specimen shipment and/or transport.
  • Communicates efficiently and timely with leadership to address and report all issues observed in the field.
  • Has availability for approximately 10% travel.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of full-time phlebotomy experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to alternate between standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Frequent use of hands.
  • Must be able to talk and hear.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
