Job Summary

We are seeking highly motivated, compassionate individuals to join our growing team as a Pharmacy Technician in the University of Michigan Health Community Pharmacies! We have five community pharmacy locations, including the Taubman Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, Cancer Center Pharmacy, East Ann Arbor Pharmacy, Brighton Center for Specialty Care Pharmacy, and the Kellogg Eye Center Pharmacy. Our team is committed to providing exceptional patient care in an innovative, technology-driven, and patient-centered pharmacy care model across these five locations. The Pharmacy Technician, Community Pharmacies position plays a critical role in ensuring our patients are receiving the highest quality of care, and will have the opportunity to continue to shape the development of our pharmacy care model.
Pharmacy Technician, Community Pharmacy Services job duties include: Gathering prescription insurance coverage information Performing prescription order entry and fulfillment Performing basic metric conversions and calculations Preparing sterile and non-sterile compounds Greeting patients and answering phones Assisting with the resolution of medication access barriers Collaborating with nursing, social work, providers, pharmacists, and others to optimize patient care Assisting with problem solving and process improvements within the pharmacy Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor to facilitate safe and efficient patient care

Required Qualifications*
Pharmacy Technician Associate: High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary. Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability. Pharmacy Technician Intermediate: High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. One or more years of relevant pharmacy practice or equivalent experience is necessary. Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary. Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability Pharmacy Technician Senior High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Two or more years of relevant pharmacy practice or equivalent experience is necessary. Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary.

Desired Qualifications*

At least one year technician experience is highly desirable. Basic algebra also highly desired.
Licensure & Certification

“The State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requires all Pharmacy Technicians to be licensed. The new regulations allow for a one-time temporary license for up to 1 year, during which time a Technician must successfully complete requirements to become certified and meet all other State of Michigan requirements for a Full Pharmacy Technician License. UMHS Pharmacy Department provides coaching and additional information to support Technicians to become certified and licensed.

Newly hired pharmacy technicians must obtain a valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before their hire date. This can include a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License or a Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License. If a technician obtains a Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before their date of hire, they must obtain a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License within 1 year of hire date or before the Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License expires, whichever is sooner, in order to maintain employment. In addition, All pharmacy technicians must obtain PTCB certification within 6 months of hire date or in time to obtain a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License, whichever is sooner, and they must maintain their PTCB certification throughout the duration of employment at UMHS as a Pharmacy Technician.”
Work Schedule

This is a day shift position, including a weekend rotation.
