Teche Action Clinic, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Pharmacy Delivery Driver position in Houma, Louisiana and surrounding areas.


Job Summary:

A Teche Action Clinic Delivery Driver is responsible for picking up and delivering prescriptions, packages and vaccines to homes and clinic locations. The driver must operate the route efficiently to ensure that scheduled pick-ups and deliveries for the day are completed as intended and must manage time well.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Follow the best practices of safety; both on the road and while delivering prescriptions and packages.
  • Communicating with staff and other team members to make deliveries
  • Meeting delivery deadlines
  • Loading and unloading packages
  • Tracking shipments and deliveries
  • Obtaining client or customer signatures when needed
  • Function as Pharmacy Technician when applicable


Qualifications:


Education/Experience:


  • A valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Pharmacy Technician State and/or National Certification/License when applicable
  • Knowledge of how to handle materials safely, such as prescriptions and vaccines
  • Familiarity with using GPS systems
  • Time management to ensure deliveries are made on schedule
  • Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination to stay safe while driving
  • Physical ability to perform job
  • Prior health care experience preferred
  • Knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to multicultural groups, encompassing their socio-economic backgrounds
  • Licensure or ability to obtain licensure when background credentials warrant


Communication Ability:

  • Excellent communication skills at level necessary for understanding and relaying information to patients
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public


Math Ability:

  • Basic math skills


Reasoning Ability:

  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve objectives
  • Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action. Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting, and coordinating clinic policies and procedures

Computer Skills:

  • Education/training or work experience in computer basics
  • Skill in utilizing computers

Professional Skills

  • Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives
  • Pharmacy Technician certification preferred
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the clinic
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment
  • Ability to be culturally sensitive and effective when working with ethnically diverse populations
  • Ability to assume responsibility over assigned work functions
  • Ability to establish and maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to organize priorities and delivery deadlines
  • Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel

Eligibility Requirements:

  • All employees must meet eligibility standards in order to be considered for the position applying for. Internal applicants must be with be with the organization for at least one year, with no disciplinary actions on file. If you have not been with the organization for a year, approval from your direct supervisor will be needed.
