We are, a freestanding, physician-owned, comprehensive cancer center based in Albuquerque, NM with a satellite clinic in Gallup, New Mexico. We are an Oncology Medical Home, with a focus on early intervention for patient symptoms, resulting in low hospitalization rates. Our Physicians have won Top 10 Docs in the city of Albuquerque multiple times.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under supervision of the attending Pharmacist/Pharmacist in Charge, the Admixture Technician works to compound chemotherapy agents while maintaining and adhering to proper policy and procedure. This position also reinforces and performs duties that help the organization achieve its mission, vision while demonstrating and adhering to the core values.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  • Provides support for chemotherapy-related admixture services for NMCC patients under the direct supervision of an Pharmacist/Pharmacist in Charge.
  • Performs admixture functions using aseptic technique and certifies in parenteral admixture preparation and sterile chemotherapy, recertifies on a yearly basis.
  • Works closely with nurses to ensure the highest levels of accuracy, quality, and efficiency are met with each patients chemotherapy and related services that are provided by NMCC.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory at an acceptable level including
  • Orders drugs and checks expiration dates on a monthly basis.
  • Orders vaccines as needed for the center
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the admixture room including the biological safety cabinets in accordance with NM Board of Pharmacy standards. (I.e. Cleans the biological safety cabinets on a daily basis. Monitors and logs twice daily any fluctuation outside of the temperature range, of the refrigerator and room temperatures, and immediately brings to the attention of the Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manger).
  • Assist with participation in monthly inventories

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school).
  • Two - Four years’ experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with clinical policies related to pharmaceuticals and practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacy regulations.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate computer skills, EMR, Pharmacy software and related systems

Certificates & Licenses:

C.PH.T with an active State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $1.00 per hour
