Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Program Overview:
The Performing Arts Conservatory is a 7 week summer intensive designed to provide meaningful and transformative arts education in support of families facing financial hardship. PAC provides professional training in the performing arts to students who demonstrate a passion for drama, dance, and stagecraft between the ages 8-14. The Conservatory is a specialized track of the Beacon summer program, with both programs running simultaneously out of the same public school host site. In partnership with Ballet & Beyond NYC, PAC students are separated into 4 focus areas, with all students receiving technical training in ballet, modern dance, and hip-hop as well as musical theater, acting, voice, and creative expression in a rigorous yet nurturing environment. The Conservatory concludes with an evening showcase at a professional theater.


Purpose of Position: The PAC Program Coordinator’s role provides crucial administrative and operational support to the youth arts education program, ensuring that camp runs smoothly and day-to-day needs are anticipated and exceeded on a tight schedule. As the primary point-of-contact liaison for PAC parents/guardians, vendors and community partners, the Coordinator screens and directs all incoming communication and naturally builds trust with families by tactfully describing students’ individual attendance, well-being, and progress.


Schedule: Seasonal; June 1 - September 1. 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and/or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (One Late-Night Specialist Event PAC Showcase.


Hourly Rate: $24.04 - $30.05


  • Filing/Record-keeping: Ensuring all official student records such as Master Roster, Application, Medical/Health Forms, Dismissals, Permissions, etc. are updated, accurate, and complete; notifying parents and obtaining missing paperwork.
    Documentation: Preparing meeting notes, presentations, handouts etc. at the request of PAC Director and Artistic Directors on a daily basis. Collect and synthesize camp ‘Results Framework’ data regarding attendance, student/teacher evaluations, parent survey etc.

  • Reception: Assisting parents with registration/orientation/intake process; corresponding with parents by text, phone, and email regarding day-to-day camp needs including tardiness, absences, missing items, copies of camp materials, early dismissal, self-dismissal, pick-up, etc. Taking care to copy PAC Director & Artistic Directors on all relevant messages and directing program inquiries to the appropriate staff member.

  • Accounting: Logging all camp purchases and receipts at the direction of PAC Program Director.

  • Creative Writing/Graphic Design: Coordinator is responsible for drafting the layout and content of PAC Playbill, Weekly Newsletters, and other promotional materials on an as-needed basis with support from Goddard Riverside’s Brand Coordinator.

  • Scheduling/Project Supervising: Create weekly schedules and assign tasks for 5-12 participants of the Summer Youth Employment Program (5-12 Junior Staff), track and sign-off on hours worked taking care to prevent overage, fill gaps within core staff and class schedules, observe and report on SYEP student progress and tasks completed to PAC Program Director, and provide official documentation, recommendation letters, etc. as requested.


Operations (50%)

  • Primary Point of Contact for student pick-up and/or drop-off, overseeing flow of dismissal and ensuring students whereabouts, emergency contacts, and special circumstances are in play each day depending on changing circumstances.

  • Primary Point of Contact for outside Vendors such as: catering, retail stores, etc. communicating camp schedules, needs, and tax-exempt status for purchase orders, etc.

  • Program Supplies: With input from PAC Program Director, anticipate and initiate the ordering, purchasing, distributing, storing/organizing, safekeeping and proper usage of all camp supplies and equipment including office/cleaning supplies, student binders/notebooks, dance gear, props, costumes, speakers, first aid, water, cups, walkie-talkies, marley dance floor, etc. Identify necessary supplies, make updates to supply lists as needed.

  • Logistics: Secure and coordinate the transportation of camp students and/or items during load-In/load out of host site school and professional theater rental, field trips, etc. Assist PAC Program Director in communicating, implementing and enforcing relevant camp policies regarding safety, sign-in, return of equipment, etc. during Staff Training and as needed during camp.

  • Meals: Securing and distributing student’s daily camp meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Snack, working with host site school and cafeteria staff. Ensuring that NYC DOE policies and camp policies regarding food allergies, glass containers, etc. are followed by all. Ordering and distributing special meals during field trips or Final Showcase and Cast Party.

  • Front-of-House Box Office/Ticketing: Creating a run of show for PAC Showcase so that all relevant parties such as venue, staff, students, caterers, independent contracts (stage manager, videographer etc.) know where/when to come for rehearsal/performance etc.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • Previous experience or background in children’s programming or education; summer camp experience a plus.

  • Previous experience managing administration and correspondence on behalf of an institution; high-level proficiency in written and phone communications.

  • Previous experience supervising junior staff; this position oversees participants of the Summer Youth Employment Program (5-12 Junior Staff).

  • High school GED and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as Education, Public Administration, Performing Arts, Production/Project Management.

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate is a project manager or administrative professional with a track record leading successful operations, representing an institution, relating with children and families, and previous experience in a supervisory role. A creative problem-solver and excellent communicator, the ideal candidate is highly organized, observant, and detail-oriented, able to anticipate and address program needs in a timely manner. Experience/Passion in performing arts production is a plus.

  • A passion for the arts and community building; proactive and service-oriented; driven to create a welcoming and supporting environment for Conservatory students and families.

  • Thorough knowledge of school/camp environment serving students aged 8-14.

  • Excellent intra-personal communication skills; works well with others’ wide range of personalities and temperaments.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, execute program needs on timeline, prioritize tasks according to importance.

  • Meticulous and detail-oriented; ability to confront and address problems before they arise.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Attitude: Friendly and calm demeanor able to respond thoughtfully in challenging situations and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

  • Cultural responsiveness: Sensitivity to the needs of a racially and socio-economically diverse range of PAC students, families, and staff members.

  • Graphic Design proficiency in Canva, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite etc. and/or experience with social media is a plus.


Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, Walking, Bending for long periods of time; use of stairs daily at host site.

  • Transporting supplies; lifting up to 30 lbs.

  • Typing.
