Position Description:

The People and Culture Coordinator is responsible for compliance, benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment, new hire orientation and workplace culture and HR special projects.

Essential Functions:

1. Interview and recruit new Staff, Faculty, and Administrative Personal.

2. Update and maintenance of rate tables.
3. Response to staff and faculty members’ inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
4. Support culture and workplace activities, such as internal communications, staff engagement surveys and culture initiatives.

5. Daily coordination of office environment – including answering office calls and assisting on-site employees

6. Arranges and drives employee relations through special events, awards, recognition, and celebrations.

7. Liaison with Paychex and SIU Accountant to update needed records and information.

8. Audit and update employee and faculty records.

9. Create and coordinate In-Service Workshops and Professional Developments for all SIU employees.

10. Follow other duties as assigned.

1. Strong interpersonal skills coupled with excellent communication

2. Exceptional organization and detail orientation, with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities

4. Administrative experience, including ability to establish priorities and make difficult choices among competing demands and to make decisions in a consultative and informed manner;

5. Flexible, innovative and responsive to emerging needs of the University;

6. Possess ability to effectively and consistently lead and motivate staff;

7. Familiar with University Policies and Procedures;
8. A commitment to exceptional customer service;
9. Must be focused, detail oriented, with strong follow up skills;

10. Effective written and oral communication skills;

11. Advance knowledge in MS Excel

12. Ability to establish priorities and multi-task in a fast paced environment

13. Excellent problem solving skills;

14. Must be a positive, pro-active team player

Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Human Resources
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Specific experience with serving as a People & Culture point of contact, intake information/requests from employees and managers, and assist the team to resolve in a proactive and positive manner.
  • Experiennce in procedures, employee handbooks, payroll processing and benefits administration is required.
  • Experience working in an academic environment is a huge plus.
  • Have good communications and interpersonal skills, and be detail oriented.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish
  • This job position requires to work in person.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

  • Human resources management: 4 years (Preferred)
