Job description

Responsible for managing the flow of operational processes and optimize day-to-day activities
Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and salary payrolls in a timely and accurate manner utilizing time and pay reporting systems.
  • Ensures all timesheets are submitted in compliance with policy, contract, state and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that all changes to payroll are entered correctly and completely
  • Responds to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters, which involves reconciliation and analysis capabilities related to problem solving and research.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities
  • Communicate with staff and management regarding changes to payroll, resolving problems, answering questions and interpreting and explaining payroll policies
  • Assure that all legally required taxes, garnishments, deductions, vacations, sick pay entries, contributions and benefit payments are correctly setup, withheld and paid in a timely and accurate manner and reconciled accordingly
  • Maintain compliance with organizational, state and federal regulations. Act as organizational resource for issues regarding changes to wage and tax laws, coordinating changes to payroll and systems tax tables
  • Performs other duties and special projects as requested by management

Qualifications
Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • AA in accounting, finance, or related field - Accredited certifications in payroll field (APA, etc.), plus or 2 years experience in Accounting/Finance/Payroll/AP (internships and non-full time experience will be considered)
  • Strong MS Excel capabilities, and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, and Word).
  • Proficiency with basic office equipment and automated payroll systems
  • Workday Time and Leave and/or Payroll Experience preferred
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, customer service and problem resolution skills are required. Able to address and resolve complex customer issues with tact and diplomacy
  • Working knowledge of payroll practices, labor and tax laws
