Payroll Specialist

Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist will oversee the payroll functions of the Operation, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with Company policies and government regulations. Position reports to Accounting Manager.

Essential Functions:

• Prepares, documents, and disburses payroll checks; calculates gross and net pay amounts (e.g., salary, overtime, shift payments, sales commissions, bonuses, deferred compensation, benefits, tax withholdings, deductions, payroll liabilities, etc.)
• Assists with setting up new earnings and deduction codes, pay rules, holiday schedules, accrual profiles, etc.
• Calculates and processes retro-active checks and bonus payments
• Maintains payroll-specific records and reconciles data; troubleshoots any issues that arise
• Provide guidance to plant HR leaders and Finance staff; answers questions regarding payroll matters
• Completes tax reports and W2s.
• Creates, reviews, and distributes payroll reports
• Develop and analyze payroll reports for irregularities, errors and risks
• Make recommendations for process improvements and policy enhancements

Required Skills

• Ability to prioritize work with high volume data, meet established deadlines, maintain attention to detail and accuracy, while working in a team or group environment
• Proficiency in the use of payroll systems, preferably ADP Vantage
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to seek out solutions and answers independently
• Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written, with customers, employees, and management regarding highly confidential and sensitive information

Education / Experience

• At least 4 years of payroll experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in developing and analyzing payroll reports
• Associates Degree in Accounting preferred
