Position: Payroll Specialist

*Payroll Experience Highly Preferred*

Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating
  • Prepare and process a bi-weekly hourly payroll for 800+ employees.
  • Organize, maintain and update employee wage, tax and personal information in the HRIS
  • Investigate and promptly respond to complex employee inquiries regarding wages, taxes, PTO and deductions in a clear, concise and timely manner
  • Set up and monitor garnishments, tax levies and child support orders
  • Review and record PTO requests for bi-weekly salaried and hourly payroll
  • Generate payroll adjustments as necessary
  • Reconcile timesheets to certified payroll reports and identify and resolve any discrepancies
  • Assist in periodic audits, both internally and externally
  • Tackle special projects as needed
  • Process attendance records and other documents (e.g. W-2 and tax forms)
  • Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
  • Oversee electronic payments and distribution of payroll checks
  • Update data with salary or wage adjustments
  • Process other financial compensations or deductions (e.g. annual bonuses, severance pay, taxes, worker’s compensation)
  • Produce reports to upper management upon request
  • Answer employee questions or complaints about salaries and payments
  • Work with authorities (e.g. IRS) on audits or requests
  • Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MUST BE PROFICIENT with Excel (functions, data etc.)
  • Bookkeeping experience preferred
  • Proven experience as a payroll coordinator or similar role
  • Familiarity with payroll processes
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems
  • An analytical mind with good math skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

**Actual salary total compensation is based on employee benefit selections. Compensation is subject to relatable experience and is subject to fluctuate.**

Annual Compensation: Starting at $45,342.36

  • Base Pay: $31,200.00
  • Employer Paid Benefits: $9,150.66 (based on PPO 1500, dental, vision - employee only)
  • Employer Sponsored 401k: $1,872.00 (based on a 6% employee pre-tax contribution)
  • Paid holidays: $840.00
  • Flexible Leave: $2,039.70
  • Floating Holiday: $240.00
