At Boston Children’s Hospital, success is measured in patients treated, parents comforted and teams taught. It’s in discoveries made, processes perfected, and technology advanced. In major medical breakthroughs and small acts of kindness. And in colleagues who have your back and patients who have your heart. As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, our reach is global and our impact is profound. Join our acclaimed Autism Spectrum Center (ASC) and discover how your talents can change lives. • Supporting ASC Social Work in providing resource support to patients and families requiring intensive care coordination.
  • Collaborating with Center for Families to provide support to non-English speaking families (including support groups)
  • Organizing and maintaining an accurate database of providers and agencies across diverse care systems in the community, to help families identify what supports they need and learn how to access those supports.
  • Developing and maintaining resource materials provided to families with a new diagnosis of ASD.
  • Collaborating with resource specialists and other staff (housed in different departments across the hospital and in different Massachusetts area hospitals) to ensure coordinated and standardized supports are provided to families with ASD.
  • Working with the Autism Friendly Hospital Initiative.
  • Managing website and electronic newsletter to share information about upcoming events and research opportunities across the hospital and in the community.
  • Representing BCH and the ASC in local and regional resource activities.
  • Tracking monthly metrics for all above duties, submitting to supervisor and ASC staff meeting.

To qualify, you must have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or a closely related field or a Master of Arts in Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Counseling, Educational Psychology, or M. Ed in Counseling/Psychology.
  • Three-years recent professional experience with pediatric patients/school age and families with the knowledge of resources in the community useful for patients and families. Prior experience working with autism spectrum disorder and/or related neurodevelopmental disabilities is highly preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills; as well as strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent decisions.
  • The ability to establish rapport with patients and families from a variety of cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
