Job Summary

Under frequent supervision, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a multi-skilled individual who provides a wide variety of clinical tasks/procedures for the patient as a member of the patient care team. The PCT provides any basic patient care duties and assists with tasks to assist with the progression of the patient’s plan of care. PCT’s don’t perform phlebotomy. Patients served include infant through elderly adult.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the ability to collect data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs is required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work duties required.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians, other healthcare professionals and visitors is required.
• The ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patient and departmental documents is required.

• Current CNA certification from MBON required
• Current BLS Certification required
• Six (6) months previous experience in a similar position, or a minimum of two (2) semesters of clinical experience in formal Nursing education with a certificate from MBON as CNA.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Satisfactory score on Written Screening Test and Competency Validation Assessment
