Columbia County Health System is opening up this brand new position which will be an integral part in ensuring the proper and timely care of our community. You will have the opportunity to work alongside multiple departments to educate, instruct, and collaborate on coordinating insurance benefit verification activities. This position will work under the supervision of our Medical Coding Manager.

What You Will Own in this Position

• Coordinating insurance verification for all patient services, ensuring accurate and complete documentation
• Training and providing support to patient service administrative staff on benefit verification
• Bridging communication between patient service department staff, CFO, CEO, and Medical Coding Manager regarding services for which CCHS is unlikely to be compensated by third parties

• Understanding of patient billing and benefit verification processes as they relate to healthcare
• Attention to detail to identify trends for improvement
• A love for working with a wide group of people that share a common goal

About Your Team
Although this is a new position, you will have the opportunity to work with the teams of CCHS' Finance, Clinic, Lab, Radiology, Patient Billing, Wound Care, and Rehab departments. They are all ready for collaboration and the opportunity to develop. This position is remote, but still has a strong virtual network to reach out to.

To Be Successful

One year of experience in billing, credentialing, or similar field will be required. You will also have had at least one year of experience with benefits verification through Waystar, Availity, One Health Port, or similar vendor. We require an Associate's Degree in Medical Billing and Coding, or equivalent relevant experience.

This position requires you to be self-motivated, able to effectively manage your own time, and the ability to communicate with team members virtually.
