Job Summary


Provides program support, student recruitment efforts, advisement, processing, and information resource referrals as a Student Services Specialist for the Microelectronics and Nanomanufacturing Certificate Program for cohorts of veterans, spouses, and their dependents. Job includes assisting students remotely and during on-site lectures at Rio Salado for 12 weeks each cohort. Works with Co-PI [Principal Investigator] and other departments to advocate for veteran and dependent students while maintaining compliance standards set by MCCCD, Penn State University, the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, and other stakeholders.

Essential Functions


40% - Assists student veteran and dependent students through activities such as: advising and career planning on MNCP outcomes and career opportunities, discussing key aspects of the enrollment services process, researches and troubleshoots issues that prohibit or affect enrollment certification, and serves a point of contact for colleagues in other departments, throughout MCCCD, for grant team members, and for federal and state regulatory agencies. Conducts student enrollment audits and processes student enrollment certifications
30% - Provides referrals to appropriate resources for VA regulations, monitors and reports student enrollments timely to include enrollment changes (adjustments and amendments), retention activities, assist in operating on-site teleconferencing technology used for remote lectures, repeats course requests, prior credit review, academic probation, and reporting of graduation
20% - Creates and maintains confidential records. Assists in data collection for grant reports for auditing by the grant team, district, and administration teams
10% - Partners with other internal and external groups who support veterans to help provide related services. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications


Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Special Working Conditions


Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:
