This law enforcement position is responsible for ensuring the safety of visitors and protecting the resources of the park by obtaining voluntary compliance with laws and park regulations. Job duties include overseeing search operations, administering basic first aid, patrolling for possible thefts, illegal hunting, cutting of trees, vandalism, or other violations, and preparing the necessary accident/incident reports as required. The Park Ranger will assist with giving interpretive programs, perform trail inspections on 30 miles of multipurpose trails and perform other duties as assigned. This position oversees the operations of the park’s 10 rental cabins which includes supervising and scheduling one full-time and three extra help employees, ordering supplies, coordinating repairs, and maintaining inventory. This position is subject to 24-hour call and must be able to traverse rough terrain and work in inclement weather. A criminal background check is required.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in park management, outdoor recreation, criminal justice, criminology, or related filed, plus completion of A.L.E.T.A. (Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy); plus one year of experience in a natural resources field or law enforcement, ORtwo years of college and 300 hours of specialized training in law enforcement; plus two years of experience in a natural resources fired, and the completion of A.L.E.T.A. (Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy). Must possess valid driver's license and have completed the Arkansas law enforcement certification training in accordance with ACA 12-9-106.
