Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) is seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and mission-oriented individual to join the team as a Paralegal/Project Manager. AWE provides support to non-profit foundations and public charities founded by Alice Walton, including the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, Art Bridges, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Momentary, and Whole Health Institute. About the Position

The Paralegal/Project Manager will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and coordinate legal projects, assist in the legal oversight of governance for the various organizations, ensure records are properly recorded and filed, and manage and support operations, projects, and processes for the legal department. You will also serve as the executive assistant to the CLO and will be responsible for providing administrative support to the legal team.

Duties of this position are complex in nature, requiring considerable discretion in the handling of confidential information and sensitive matters; and the ability to work proactively to balance multiple tasks.


What you will do

Paralegal/Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to legal team by receiving and reviewing requests for information; providing necessary information to attorneys; collecting, entering, and maintaining legal information in various systems; managing legal files; scheduling meetings and calls and coordinating with internal team members and outside parties; providing status updates on legal processes and matters; assisting in the prioritization of various tasks within different legal processes; ensuring that attorneys are aware of pending deadlines; and assisting with budgeting, time, and invoice review
  • Keep and maintain corporate governance documents for non-profit entities.
  • Assist in legal research and analysis by working with the attorneys to identify necessary information and relevant facts to support legal matters; managing internal sources for document and information retrieval; researching and retrieving documentation and information; collecting and reviewing documents to determine suitability of information for production and document confidentiality; ensuring legal documents comply with internal compliance rules; and making assessments and categorizing information
  • Attend meetings with the CLO and synthesize complex discussions including taking notes, identifying key takeaways, and following-up on actionable items
  • Act as the project manager for various legal projects and both work independently and in concert with attorneys and various stakeholders on projects from conception to completion. Provide clear project direction to ensure projects meet deadlines and provide consistent updates to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Partnering with resources from across the organization, business units, and other stakeholders as appropriate.

Administrative Support:

  • Support the Chief Legal Officer and AWE legal team on informational, administrative, and organization matters, including research, compilation, and organization of information.
  • Coordinate the Chief Legal Officer and AWE legal team’s schedule, expenses, domestic travel, and other administrative needs.

Qualifications required for your success.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience. Corporate paralegal or other relevant in-house legal, compliance or records management experience preferred
  • Paralegal certificate preferred
  • Experience in operations/project management.
  • Experience in process improvement and project management.
  • Possess a strong commitment to customer service and organizational mission.
  • Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business.
  • Self-motivated, strategic thinker who anticipates future issues and opportunities, recommending solutions to complicated and varied problems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through on assigned tasks

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms.
