Overview:
Maintain automatic packaging machines so that a high degree of mechanical efficiency is realized in an environment of good housekeeping practices. Set up, adjust, repair, and replace parts on automatic packaging machines. Use established practices and adhere to accepted analytical principles in determining proper course of action before affecting repairs. maintain associated peripheral equipment in the Packaging Department as required. Perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines according to stipulated procedures. Apply QPI principles and techniques effectively.
Responsibilities:
  • Understand machine principles and relative motions so that proper machine settings can be maintained.
  • Understand principles of electricity and electrical repair methods.
  • Understand principles of pneumatic power apparatus.
  • Perform preventive maintenance/controlled fixing duties on assigned machines in accordance with prescribed preventive maintenance schedule.
  • When malfunctions so indicate, analyze electrical and electronics system using specified procedures and equipment. Replace components, circuit boards or control system components and send out for repair as necessary.
  • Work with Engineering Department staff when assistance is needed to clear a malfunction.
  • Repair machine malfunctions in an expedient manner using approved methods so as to maximize productivity.
  • Communicate with Engineering Department. and/or others when recurring machine performance problems are evident so that such problems may be analyzed and corrected in order to enhance machine efficiency.
  • Assist management through assisting in training of new employees and relaying instructions to operators.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare machine parts, lubricants, tools, and equipment.
  • Change tooling, as required, for package size changes.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work place.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervision.
Qualifications:
Technical knowledge. Must be able to understand and use technical drawings and manuals. Requires working knowledge and technical competence in mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Must demonstrate proficiency in recognition and use of hand tools, power tools, and electrical/electronic test equipment. Must be able to solve mathematical problems independently.(Must pass a Fixer’s test to be qualified to learn.)
Applicants must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
Must be able to pass Background Screening and Drug Test.
