What You’ll Do

If you want to help people at imminent risk of losing their homes, you could be a great Outreach Specialist with HELP USA Project Anchor in Suffolk County and play a key role in delivery of a comprehensive, community-based homelessness prevention program. You’ll report to the Assistant Program Manager and engage Suffolk County communities to identify individuals and families who have been impacted by COVID-19 and are facing a housing crisis. You’ll work closely with community-based organizations and agencies to provide information on homelessness prevention, encourage referrals to Project Anchor, and provide pre-screening training to facilitate appropriate referrals. You’ll also make program presentations, attend community events, and distribute program materials.

You’re a great fit for this role if you:

  • Have an Associate’s degree (with a Bachelor’s degree even better).

  • Have at least a year of experience in outreach and social services (with more experience even better).

  • Have strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

It would be helpful (but not required) if you:

  • Are bi-lingual (English/Spanish), since many of our client families are native Spanish speakers.

  • Have knowledge of homelessness and supportive services.

  • Have a valid US Driver’s license.

  • Are able to provide some weekend and evening coverage as needed.

Compensation: $16.83 - $17.79 hourly
