Job description
The position will provide support to the Manager of Outreach and Communications at the Tulane National Primate Research Center. Major responsibilities will include developing education outreach materials and activities for grades 6-12+, coordinating educational field trips of the TNPRC, representing the TNPRC at local educational events (STEM events, career days, etc.) and working with members of the NPRC consortium on increasing participation and visibility of outreach events. Educational in-reach and ongoing education for the TNPRC community will also be emphasized.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to introduce and communicate complex ideas to an audience with little to no prior knowledge
SPECIAL REQUIRED ABILITY FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University’s Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
- One year of experience in program management, education, event coordination, or program implementation
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in education or communications
- Interest in research, science, or biomedical science
- Public speaking and/or teaching experience
