Seeking: Outreach and Operations Coordinator

The Outreach and Operations Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director of Historic Georgetown, Inc.

Historic Georgetown, Inc. is a Georgetown, Colorado-based non-profit 501-C-3 that places Historic Preservation at the heart of its brand.

Mission Statement: Historic Georgetown, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation, was formed to preserve and encourage the Preservation of historic buildings, objects, sites, and areas relating to the history of Georgetown, Colorado; to promote an awareness of and respect for all that is historically and architecturally significant about Georgetown; to encourage the appropriate management and conservation of the natural setting of Georgetown; and through these efforts, to keep alive and intact, for the enrichment of present and future generations, the inherited character and charm and beauty of Georgetown and its unique role in the development of the Rocky Mountain West of the United States of America.
Duties and Responsibilities: Outreach

  • Build relationships to recruit and retain donors and members.
  • Build and maintain database of donors and members.
  • Build and maintain a social media presence that shows a love our history and community.
  • Maintain and update current website which is built with WordPress.
  • Draft and publish quarterly newsletters for members and donors.
  • Tell the stories that matter the most to expand the reach of Historic Georgetown, Inc.
  • Engage the public in talking about our mission and details about our lands and properties.
  • Attend and support community events.
  • Collaborate with events committee of the Board of Directors.

Duties and Responsibilities: Operations

  • Assist Executive Director with daily responsibilities and special projects, such as:
  • Maintaining files and records, answering phone calls, processing mail, processing bank deposits
  • Coordinate and help supervise volunteers for events.
  • Coordinate and help supervise docents who interpret HGI properties.
  • Assist in maintaining buildings and supervising cleaning staff, as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Motivation and desire to execute jobs to the highest standard.
  • Willing to be flexible and problem solve.
  • Strong writing skills with a flair for telling stories.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible and willing to perform duties as assigned to meet the organization’s needs.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Experience maintaining websites with knowledge of or willingness to learn WordPress.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Manages multiple tasks in a fast, quickly changing environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Commitment to open and collaborative teamwork.
  • Comfort taking direction from Executive Director while helping provide guidance for volunteers, donors, and the public with polite discretion.

Work Environment

  • Most of the job is indoors. Office space is in the historic Hamill House in Georgetown.
  • Events, whether inside or outside, are part of this job.
  • Must be able to work independently and in teams, as appropriate.

Physical Demands

  • Manual dexterity to work on a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods in front of a computer.
  • Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with members, donors, board members, the public.
  • Able to navigate stairs in our historic buildings without an elevator.
  • Able to lift 20 lbs.
  • Comfortable walking and standing for long periods during events.

Time Commitment and Salary

  • 30 hours/week, regular but flexible during special events and Christmas Market
  • $20/per hour, raise after three month probation period and scheduled bonuses based on member outreach and retention.

  • Georgetown, CO 80444: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

  • Driver's License (Preferred)
