Outreach Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY: Advocates for a Violence Free Community is a non-profit community based organization that provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Grand County, Colorado. Our organization is seeking an Outreach Coordinator. Duties include providing outreach and prevention education to schools and the community regarding domestic violence and sexual assault, in addition to fundraising for the organization. This position also provides confidential direct services to victims. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Full-time/year round position, $20-$25/hour, benefits. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree or equivalent related experience required.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

I. NETWORKING

  • Represent agency to the public in an appropriate manner
  • Build relationships with businesses and employers in the community
  • Build relationships in both school districts to increase Advocates’ presence in the schools
  • Attend community networking events to increase our overall presence in the community

II. COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION

  • Organize and implement awareness raising campaigns/events for the community throughout the year
  • Promote General Community Awareness through newspaper articles and radio spots
  • Provide individualized training for employers, businesses and Law Enforcement throughout Grand County, including those that have seasonal foreign workers.
  • Attend health fairs, county fair and other events where Advocates can raise awareness make the public aware of services available to victims
  • Assist in updating and revising website
  • Manage and continue developing social media outreach
  • Create and distribute a quarterly e-newsletter
  • Actively participate in on-going DV/SA training to ensure you have the best knowledge and information to share in your presentations

III. SCHOOL OUTREACH AND EDUCATION

  • Work with both East & West Grand School Districts to present, maintain and update our school programs on domestic violence and sexual assault prevention.
  • Give age appropriate domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment and anti-bullying presentations in all schools.
  • Work with school faculty and other DV/SA programs to research and implement “best practices” in school prevention
  • Be available in the high schools monthly for students to approach and discuss dating violence/sexual violence concerns
  • Implement peer education program in the schools

IV. FUNDRAISING

  • Organize and execute the Taste of Spring fundraiser.
  • Research and implement other new fundraising events and funding sources through coordination with the Executive Director and Board members.
  • Responsible for management of Giftworks.
  • Assist the Executive Director with grant research, reporting and writing.
  • Coordinate Colorado Gives Day
  • Create and distribute Advocates Annual Appeal letter

V. VICTIM SERVICES/ SPROUT HOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to understand and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Work directly with clients on and off scene as needed.
  • Cover crisis line shifts as primary worker and as staff backup to on-call volunteers.
  • Assist with overall house cleanliness and maintainance as needed
  • Foster relationships with the town and neighbors

VI. OTHER DUTIES

  • Work closely with the Board and Executive Director on budget management
  • Check mail and send out mail on a daily basis
  • Keep inventory of supplies, order as necessary
  • Track in-kind labor using Giftworks
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Hot Sulphur Springs, CO: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Crisis intervention: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Social work: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Fundraising: 1 year (Preferred)
