Alliance Water Resources is a water and wastewater contract operations company with an open Operator I position in the Villa Ridge, MO area.

About the Job

This is manual work and semi-skilled work which ensures the effective operation of a wastewater treatment plant(s). The work is performed under general supervision and requires the ability to perform independently.

Wastewater C Certification or the ability to earn within 6 months of hire date


Essential Functions/Work Performed Statements:

This list is not comprehensive, but indicates duties and responsibilities which may be redefined pursuant to operational needs:

Operates wastewater treatment facilities including record keeping and maintenance; conducts inspections and makes adjustments to ensure proper operation.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including preparation of necessary reports.

Analyzes operating data and makes process control changes to maximize treatment efficiency.

Prepares work orders; performs routine and minor maintenance including preventive maintenance on equipment and facility.

Handles and transports treatment chemicals in a safe and effective manner according to regulations; assures that all chemical feed equipment is in proper working order.

Operates specific equipment to move materials, supplies, and equipment; operates appropriate vehicle for sludge removal and transportation to disposal site as necessary.

Collects samples to evaluate performance or monitor compliance; delivers samples to be tested; conducts laboratory or field analysis as directed; records results.

Maintains work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition; orders supplies as needed.

Provides assistance to other operators and co-workers.

Performs related duties as needed or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities-Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or GED and two years experience related to wastewater treatment activities; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of wastewater treatment activities.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of hazards associated with wastewater treatment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal standards and regulations governing wastewater treatment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and precautions related to wastewater treatment.
  • Ability to use and maintain tools, equipment, and computers associated with wastewater treatment.
  • Ability to read and interpret laboratory and statistical data.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and/or move or manipulate equipment up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and stoop for extensive periods of time; ability to walk up to five (5) miles per day; ability to climb numerous stairways.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and be on-call as scheduled.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, clients, vendors, and the general public.
  • Possess an appropriate level certification in wastewater as necessary per division.
  • Possesses or has the ability to possess a valid Missouri driver’s license or an appropriate level CDL as necessary.
