Responsibilities

This position is in technical charge and responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of basement utility equipment but is subordinate to the Operator. Individual will assist the Operator or Boiler Operator in time of need. Individual will not leave the basement or first floor area without permission of the Operator. Individual will make minor repairs and adjustments to auxiliary equipment. May leave the premises on plant business for short periods of time when assigned by Operator. Individual will perform related duties as assigned.

Relief Assignment: The duties of Operating Unit personnel in a relief assignment will be to work shift or maintenance in any capacity necessary and to relieve members of the operating crew for vacation or illness as the need arises. The pay schedule will remain constant whether the employee works maintenance or shift relief. No replacement will be required for relief assignment employees when they are sick or on vacation.

Qualifications

High school education or equivalent. Two years vocational training in operation of high pressure boilers, turbines, generators, electrical, and auxiliary equipment required or equivalent. Must hold a valid State of Minnesota 2nd Class A, 1st Class A or Chief A Engineers License and 3 years’ operating experience in a high pressure boiler plant.Extensive experience in a high pressure water tube boiler, steam turbine, and chiller plant at pressures greater than 600psig. Background in water testing and chemical handling. Minimum of one year experience with "Windows" computer applications. Must have a medical clearance to climb stairs, life up to 50 lbs., and qualify to wear a respirator. A driver's license is required. Must hold a valid State of Minnesota Second Class Grade A, First Class Grade A or Chief Grade A Engineers license. Must hold one of the following State of Minnesota Electrical licenses: Maintenance, Journeymen, Master Electrician, or registered as an unlicensed Electrician. New hires that do not have an electrical license are required to have unlicensed registration completed within the 90 day probationary period from start date.
