Our team is searching for an Operations Manager for our Clemson Polyurethanes Systems House in South Carolina.

As a leader of the Operation’s team, you will be responsible for the planning and direction of a broad range of manufacturing and operational activities at the Clemson Polyurethanes Systems House. Primary areas of responsibility are management of the blending operations, shipping and receiving raw materials and utilities operations.

As an Operations Manager you create chemistry by…

  • Coordinate site operations with Customer Care, Product Management, Supply Chain and Technical Group as required to ensure the production of quality products that meet customer requirements. Also ensures compliance with a broad range of BASF standards, third party inspectors, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements over the areas of safety, environmental, security for the site Operations group.

  • Receive direction from the Site Manager towards setting and achieving performance targets established by the PMN business and the site. Accountable for all production and logistics aspects of the site with the support of the Site Manager and the incumbent’s direct reports.

  • Actively participate in site EHS&S initiatives and compliance; including adherence to established environmental, health, safety and security policies and procedures for the site. You will be responsible for ensuring the process safety and occupational safety requirements are met for the Operations group. Participates in PHAs/BHAs, hazard assessments, incident reviews and occupational safety assessments (OSAs) as required to prioritize actionable items involving multiple stakeholders and drive them to an agreed upon resolution. You will also use these skills to ensure proper adherence to the Big 5 programs. You will be trained as an Incident Commander as part of the site Emergency Response team.

  • Directly manage the personnel and equipment engaged in the manufacture, packaging and shipping of over 150 different products for the Clemson site, as well as other operational activities as required, ensuring operational discipline. You will also manage the utilities operations which supports site operation.

  • Conduct and oversee the appropriate communication and documentation of both Performance and Personal Development Reviews for direct reports on an annual basis.

  • Monitor the overall production and shipping schedules, coordinating personnel and assets as required to drive schedule compliance and providing prompt feedback on issues that arise. You will oversee the safe manufacturing of processes handling various chemicals, including the incorporation of safe operating interlocks, oversight of established risk management policies (MOC), and the provision of proper training for both new and existing operators. You will oversee Asset Effectiveness for the site.

  • Coordinate initiatives with the PMN Technical Group, Product Management and Supply Chain functions as the Operations representative for new product introductions and changes to existing products and processes. You will identify and prioritize engineering and maintenance projects for plant manufacturing and safety improvements, incorporating input from plant operating personnel and supporting site Operational Excellence efforts. You will oversee the development of adequate operating policies and procedures to meet all BASF standards and regulatory requirements. You will support other roles on the site, coordinating operational requirements with other site personnel, corporate groups, outside vendors, customers and regulatory agencies to assure the site operates in a safe, productive and efficient manner.

  • Support all aspects related to the site Quality Management program, working closely with the PMN Quality Management Team to ensure adherence to established ISO 9001 procedures and technical analyses required to support continuous improvement. You will also support the site FMEA fostering continuous improvement.

  • Serve as the DOT Hydrotesting Coordinator for the site, managing all aspects of the maintenance and requalification of the BASF owned cylinder and portable tank fleet as a registered requalification facility with the DOT.
