Position Summary:

The main duty of an On-Air Talent announcers is to present clear, informative and entertaining information to their audience. This often requires announcers to prepare for their broadcasts in advance in areas such as topic research, fact-checking and script or show outline preparation. Announcers may also have to compile song lists and prepare for personal interviews.

An On-Air Talent announcer may be in charge of some of the technical aspects of the show, such as working the control board, keeping the programming logs or answering the phone. On-Air Talent announce may be expected to make public appearances on or off air or help market products on their show while remembering they are representing the KMHA Radio at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must maintain excellent verbal and communication skills, outstanding ability to relate and communicate with KMHA Radio audience in a positive manner on or off air.
• Maintain tasks of On-Air Radio Talent by engaging and entertaining audience during their allotted time slot.
• Will interact with the general public on a day to day basis.
• Will promote sponsors and KMHA Radio.
• Maintain a log or paperwork as required by Program Manager.
• Ability to run equipment relevant to going on air duties.
• Prepare and deliver news, sports, community updates and/or weather updates.
• Other duties as assigned.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be personable and friendly.
• Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
• Good phone voice.
• Level temperament.
• Must be familiar or able to familiarize self with multiple phone line system and computer software.
• Must maintain professional office demeanor during working hours.
• Ability to think through a problem quickly and fix the issue.
• Reliable and punctual.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year working in radio or communication is preferred but not necessary.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Must have computer knowledge in software programs such as word, excel or Microsoft office. Also have knowledge in computer programming software.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Maybe required to do travel.
