The Nursing Supervisor is a professional nurse who demonstrates commitment in the assessment and management of nursing operations. Will have the accountability for decision making relative to the provision of patient care and staff maintenance. Provides administrative level nursing leadership for inpatient units at The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard and provides House coverage on off-shifts.

Qualifications*

  • Must have current Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure & BLS/CPR cert
  • A minimum of five (5) years of broad-based nursing experience, required.
  • Previous supervisory / management experience, required.
  • Must be computer literate and have familiarity with electronic health records.
  • Baccalaureate degree from a NLN accredited school of nursing, preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Be Well Center orientation & hospital required certifications.
  • *Responsibility and Accountability
  • Collaborate with Clinical Directors to implement the mission, values and philosophies of nursing in the various specialties at The Be Well Center.
  • Assures the provision of quality nursing care to all patients/residents and their families as defined by the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and ANA Standards of Professional Performance. Models ANA Standards.
  • Assures the The Be Well Center and Nursing policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Manage, direct, discipline & evaluate nursing staff in collaboration with Clinical Directors.
  • Assigns and schedules staff to meet patient care needs.
  • Provides administrative direction and oversight to all departments operating during off-hours.
  • Investigate and review all incidents and unusual occurrences, document appropriately & follow-up.
  • Complete required administrative reports and maintain appropriate records.
  • Collaborate & interact with multidisciplinary teams & hospital administration in a collegial manner.
  • Foster the use of research to improve clinical care, contributing to further development of nursing.
  • Provide incidental & planned teaching for staff; conducts educational programs as needed.
  • Utilize effective communication skills and interact with all in a collegial manner.
  • Takes responsibility for personal and educational growth and development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Since the holistic approach to the patient is practiced, the nurse is expected to be challenged in the physical, emotional, intellectual, social & spiritual dimensions for which the nurse must be prepared. May require long periods of walking and standing; light to medium lifting and the Supervisor must be prepared to work with patients who are uncooperative, disoriented and/or aggressive. The work is performed in patient care areas, therefore, there exists a high potential for exposure to environmental hazards and contagious diseases. The mental stress can also be demanding. Knowledge of hospital health, infection control and safety policies is essential. Flexible scheduling is necessary to accomplish all job requirements.
