To oversee and coordinate the academic and field experience Programs in both the Practical Nursing (PN) and the Associates of Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) Programs at the particular Site to meet the accreditation criteria for the statewide program and to prepare participating students to be practitioners and to pass national licensing examination.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the major activities of the Practical Nursing (PN) Program and the Associates of Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program in conjunction with the academic policies and activities of Vermont Technical College and the Vermont State Colleges.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with clinical affiliations, cooperating agencies, community groups, state and national advisory boards and accreditation organizations and others as needed.
  • Provide leadership to carry out the academic and clinical instruction and to plan and revise the educational curriculum to be consistent statewide program objectives, current nursing practices and trends.
  • Oversee local recruitment activities, establish written criteria for the admission committee, review prospective candidates for admission, serve as a member of the admission committee, assist with pre-entrance testing and interviews, monitor enrollments and insure that student related operations are consistent with program and college policies.
  • Provide support for students as needed; deal with a variety of disciplinary, policy enforcement and safety related matters in the interest of students, program integrity and the clinical site expectations.
  • Develop and administer the site program operating budget, including: implement controls for the management and disbursement of program funds, prepare and maintain financial reports as needed.
  • Provide supervisory leadership and support to assigned staff.
  • Prepare a variety of administrative and management reports relating to program activities, data, financial and other informational areas.
  • Confer regularly with the Director of Nursing Education Programs and VTC and VSC Administrators to plan and evaluate program goals, exchange information and resolve problems.
  • Stay abreast of current developments and trends in the field of practical nursing and nursing education through professional development opportunities; serve on related committees and/or boards and participate in state, regional and national affiliations in the best interest of the program.
  • Perform other related duties relative to the Nursing Education Program purpose.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree with a major in Nursing, plus five to seven years relevant nursing and teaching experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

  • Broad-based knowledge and skills related to nursing education and clinical nursing practices.
  • Experience teaching practical nursing skills and theory.
  • RN. License required.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and budget management skills.
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with and represent the program to the college, nursing and health care, and student communities, and a wide range of individuals throughout the State.

VSC UP SUP Bargaining Unit Grade: 14 FLSA: Exempt Full-time

Hours: Monday-Friday
