System One is seeking a highly motivated Nuclear Physical Security Engineer. This position reports to the Nuclear Physical and Physical Security Design Program Manager and provides day-to-day support of our client's projects and assists in the development of Physical Security Programs to meet the established regulatory requirements. Works in close consultation with Engineering staff to ensure regulatory requirements are identified and implemented in accordance with design and licensing strategy. Assists in defining and executing the design and licensing strategy for Physical Security Programs and participates in interactions with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission including pre-application discussions, preparing/reviewing topical reports and other reactor licensing documentation, and responding to requests for additional information.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the successful implementation of licensing actions associated with Physical Security Programs for both construction and operations
  • Coordinating with design personnel to ensure new designs and design changes meet physical security regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining licensing documentation in compliance with Physical Security Design Programs, and regulations
  • Interfacing with technical discipline teams, partners and contractors.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical material prepared by themselves and others.
  • Reviewing correspondence to and from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • Assisting with Physical Security Plan, Contingency and Training and Qualification Plan.
  • Preparing or reviewing Physical security regulatory evaluations.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four-year university or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years applicable experience in development and implementation of nuclear Physical Security Programs demonstrating knowledge and compliance with:
    • US NRC 10 CFR Regulations.
    • US NRC and Nuclear Energy Institute guidance related to 10CFR regulations implementation.
  • Experience with developing nuclear physical security program implementation strategies, program procedures, and design.
  • Awareness and current knowledge of trends and nuclear industry activities related physical security program implementation.
  • Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
  • Self-Starter with ability to manage deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Professional.
  • Experience in interactions with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff.
  • Project management and project management tools experience with the capability and willingness to assume full responsibility for a project task
  • Excellent written and oral English skills.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
