Job Summary

Oversee the safe, efficient, and productive operation of maintenance crews. Position is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager. Position is responsible for planning and scheduling equipment and productivity of the Maintenance Department.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Visibly support and champion Peabody’s Mission and Values.
• Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
• Establish planned maintenance schedules for all mine equipment which includes rolling stock, trucks, drills, and shovels
• Forecasting and budgeting for equipment and component life
• Senior Component Tracking
• Analytics of equipment cost, component replacement and risk of repairs and replacement
• Coordinating between planning and supervisors (maintenance, production, and plant) to get work done in a timely manner
• Panning and coordinating onsite venders for repairs to equipment
• Ensure adequate resources are available for meeting scheduled and repair/breakdown maintenance
• Plan shutdowns to optimize cost and availability
• Liaison for operations departments to ensure optimal equipment and plant availability.
• Work with site/multi-site support engineers to assist in resolution of technical maintenance issues.
• Liaison with procurement/store/logistics to oversee inventory and ensure availability of required materials.
• Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Other duties as assigned by the company

SKILLS

MINIMUM and PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of five years of heavy equipment maintenance experience in mobile mining equipment.
• Must have prior experience (minimum one year) as a supervisor in a surface mining operation.
• Must have or be willing to obtain Mine Foreman’s Certificate

Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements - Surface Environment:

• Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
• Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
• Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders
• Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs and good hand to eye coordination
• Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during work shift
• Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
• The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays
