This position has the possibility of having a flexible/hybrid schedule.

The Public Records Coordinator analyzes, processes, and responds to public records requests submitted to the North Beach School District, in compliance with State law, Model Rules adopted by the State Attorney General. The Public Records Coordinator evaluates whether any record or part of a record is exempt, redacts records, and prepares appropriate redaction and exemption logs.

  • Receive, process, and respond to a variety of public record requests; answer inquiries and explain policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with various departments to compile responsive records.
  • Prepared and maintain spreadsheets and/or maintain public records request tracking system to monitor timely review and responses.
  • Maintain physical and electronic filing system.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees and the public in an accurate, knowledgeable, efficient manner.
  • Ensure records are maintained and destroyed according to the adopted Records Retention Schedule.
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in law and legislation regarding records management and public information requests.
  • Support the relationship between the North Beach School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors and staff; maintains confidentiality of work related issues and North Beach District information.
  • Perform other related and assigned duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent and AA Degree.
  • Minimum of one year of public information/open records experience, records management experience and school district record experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have working knowledge of the Washington State Public Records Act and Washington State records retention requirements.
  • Notary Public or ability to become one, preferred.
  • Paralegal experience, preferred.
