Job Summary: This is an entry level position on the New Model Quality engineering team. The NMQ engineer’s role involves new product development for automotive injection molding and assembly. The NMQ engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality from design phase through mass production hand-off.

Essential Functions:

· Work closely with diverse engineering teams to ensure products meet design specifications.

· 2D/3D Data Analysis

o Analyze and interpret 2D part drawings to confirm products meet required specifications

o Utilize 3D software to reference part details as needed

o Communicate with both customer and internal design engineers to resolve potential drawing concerns.

· Check Fixture Design

o Work with check fixture vendors and customer QE to design/develop checking aids to confirm dimensional accuracy of parts.

· Management of part validation testing schedules for all parts assigned

· Will be looked to as subject matter expert, regarding product quality for new model projects

· Development of documentation detailing product quality requirements

o Offer training and assistance for mass production teams, both internally and at outsource vendors, to ensure understanding of quality requirements.

· Participate regularly in Kaizen (Improvement) activity to increase efficiency in meeting department KPIs

· Use root cause analysis to assist customer QEs in solving issues with part fitment/functionality.

· Create and maintain documentation required for part approval (PPAP).

· Manage and prioritized workload across several projects

  • Other duties as assigned by management

Education:

· Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field or equivalent

Skills/Experience:

· 0 – 3 years of previous experience

· Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing

· Ability to demonstrate leadership and effectively participate and contribute to team projects

· Must be able to read, understand and interpret 2D engineering drawings

· Must be able to travel offsite on overnight trips (Up to 30%)

· Plastic injection molding experience a plus

· Experience in common business software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.

· Have good people/interpersonal skills

Physical/Ergonomic Requirements:

· Able to work sitting or standing for extended periods of time

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
