The Network Engineer position is responsible for providing remote and on-site servicing of small to medium sized clients as well as assisting fellow bva team members with more network extensive tickets before they are escalated. This role will assist the project team with firewall and networking efforts, and requires expert level knowledge of network administration, architecture and engineering. High level tickets associated to firewalls and switches (layer 3+) will be assigned to this position for troubleshooting efforts and prevention of ticket escalation. Again, this role needs to be proficient in firewalls and networking via Layer 2 and 3 switching.

Salary Range:

$72,000-$110,000/year DOE

Reports to: Manager, IT Operations

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Operations Manager with firewall and networking troubleshooting efforts to prevent escalation
  • Assist Senior System Project Engineers on designated projects as directed
  • Provide phone support to clients to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain secure computing environment and infrastructure solutions for all clients
  • Service clients’ contracts as scheduled
  • Address issues with client accounts in a timely and professional manner
  • Interact with clients and employees in a courteous, business-like manner
  • Facilitate the transfer of information between peers to create a team-oriented environment
  • Review and ensure client documentation is up to date
  • Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements:

  • General knowledge of information technology industry – particularly Networking, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft infrastructure management
  • Hands-on extensive experience with configuring and troubleshooting commercial-grade firewalls and switches
  • Layer 2 & 3 switch administration
  • Network Conception and Troubleshooting
  • Experience with backup systems
  • Experience with infrastructure network management
  • Hands-on experience with basic server and email administration
  • Hands-on experience with desktop support
  • Superior organizational skills and precise attention to detail
  • Professionalism and cooperation in dealing with other staff, partners, and clients
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage difficult or stressful work-related issues
  • Requires physical agility and strength to bend, reach, lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and extensive use of computer equipment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or GED required; technical training or college degree preferred
  • Minimum three to five (3-5) years in a network administrator role/infrastructure management/or high level IT network/infrastructure consulting
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and technical knowledge
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance

  • MCIT (Preferred)
  • MCSA: Windows Server 2012 (Preferred)
  • CCNA (Preferred)
  • VMware VCP (Preferred)
  • ACSP: Apple Certified Support Professional (Preferred)

Pay: $72,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
