Job description
Service recipients are from a variety of socio-economic and culturally diverse families. Students served have a large variety of learning styles and AmeriCorps members tutor and mentor students one on one and in small group sessions throughout the school year and summer. Many activities are in non-traditional or alternative classroom settings including camps, field trips, service learning opportunities, gymnasiums and game rooms. Positions include Tutors, Mentors, Program Assistants, Outreach and Volunteer Coordinators. Members engage as a group in community service projects throughout the year. Members meet twice monthly. Training sessions provide member development and community service opportunities.

Member Duties : Quarter-time members serve 3.5 month terms at community based organizations during and after school throughout the school year and summer. Programs provide safe, positive interactive activities for youth, including elementary, middle and high school students. Members tutor and mentor youth from diverse backgrounds with a wide variety of learning styles. Positions focus on education and social development. Position descriptions and work schedules vary depending on the host site where the member serves.
