We’re looking for an amazing Musician Casting Specialist professional to fill this role, which is based in our Santa Clarita office. This is a hybrid work schedule opportunity. You’ll be responsible for the casting, contracting and maintaining of Musicians and House Band members, to include Band Leaders, Band/group members, Soloists, House Band Musicians, Guest Entertainer / ResGENT Music Staff, in collaboration with the PCL Music Direction team. You will need to make operational decisions related to music recruitment and staffing daily. The role will have independent authority with respect to hiring decisions for entry-level positions within the onboard Music team, scheduling/rotations for select ranks/positions, and other personnel matters, following guidance and requirement provided by internal partners, adhering to current processes, working with internal partners as required, and supporting onboard live music programming needs. This Specialist will need an excellent grasp of performance requirements for all Music teammate positions onboard, as required to support current live music programming.

This Specialist will create, coordinate, and execute all worldwide recruitment and related advertising efforts, including online recruitment through ROSE ATS website and in-person audition events, consistently displaying cost-saving approaches throughout the recruitment process. This Specialist will maintain the Musician portion of the PCL Entertainment recruitment ROSE ATS website, as well as keep the Talent Management System (talent database) updated for all staffing and groups. This Specialist will develop and maintain strong relationships with talent agents, Global Talent Partners, universities, and local/regional music programs. This Specialist will embrace an inclusive and diverse culture, and instill our Shared Purpose, Core Values and CRUISE service essentials. This Specialist will be responsible for coordinating all live Musician/Performer rotations, in coordination with the Specialist – Music Direction, and Manager – Music Direction. This Specialist will support the deployment of highly functional teams for specific itineraries and markets. Additionally, the role will be responsible for maintaining healthy musician and band talent pools, monitoring/anticipating staffing needs, and proactively working with partner Talent Agents and recruitment sources to alleviate potential staffing shortages. Responsibilities

  • Effectively executes the casting, contracting and maintaining of all live music performers/artists within the Musician Department talent roster (TMS).
  • Creates, coordinates and executes all worldwide recruitment advertising and efforts, including online recruitment through ROSE ATS website and in-person audition events, consistently displaying cost saving approaches throughout the recruitment process.
  • Negotiates contracts for all new and returning performers. Determines talent rotations and placement of all House Band Musicians and other live music performers as assigned.
  • Designs and executes all advertising through major publications, localized websites as well as repeated postings and email blasts to local Facebook groups, universities, music programs/studios in advance of auditions.
  • Reviews talent submissions from agents and the entertainment website to determine viability for employment. Develops and maintains strong relationships with agents and managers.
  • Contracts all audition resources/staffing, including but not limited to assistants, monitors and accompanists, while also coordinating all travel and accommodations.
  • Monitors all shoreside rehearsals and addresses any musician issues. Conducts multiple ship visits per year to ensure quality control.
  • Coordinates, plans and executes recruitment activities within the annual audition and travel budget(s).
  • Support Recorded Music Resources (BGM/MOD/Nightlife Music/CAVS Karaoke) – content updates, licensing updates, reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with Partner Talent Agents, Talent Acquisition/HR/Fleet Personnel/Shipboard Payroll Teams (PCL Italy ITP), and Global Talent Partners (GTPs) as required to successfully onboard all new-hire Musicians/Bands.
  • Support vendor relationships and cost-controls via Global Supplier Maintenance process, Markview Invoice coding, and other tasks related to ongoing Talent Agency / Vendor Partner service agreements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Live Music performance – instrumental/vocal, jazz/pop/classical.
  • 5 years of work experience in the cruise or live music industry, preferably in recruitment/scheduling, or at a talent agency.
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in the cruise / live music industry as performer / musical director.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in musician recruitment/scheduling, or at a talent agency.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience conducting auditions and development of recruitment strategies.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing audition and travel budgets.
  • Musician recruitment within the cruise industry experience.
  • Proven understanding of Live Music / Theatrical / Touring performance requirements
  • Marketing/Advertising experience.
  • Developed relationships with talent agencies.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other web-based applications.
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations with effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of all live music product and their casting specifications.
  • Knowledge of recruitment or ATS platforms, and other casting/recruitment resources.
  • Proficient data analysis of recruitment effectiveness.
  • Proven people management skill set
