Motor Equipment Operator
Town of Union Vale

Highway Department

The Town of Union Vale is accepting applications for the position of Motor Equipment Operator
(MEO) in the Town Highway Department.

This is a full-time position which includes all aspects of road maintenance as well as additional activities as assigned by the Highway Superintendent. The following is indicative of types of activities performed by a Motor Equipment Operator. It is not meant to be all-inclusive.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Operates a truck in connection with the removal of snow, debris and refuse and the transportation of stone, sand, asphalt and other materials and supplies

- Drives workers to and from jobs
- Operates a snow plow, sander, roadside mower, water wagon, Loader, sweepers, small excavators and utility vehicles
- May operate an air compressor in the breaking of pavements, and a chain saw in clearing brush and

- trimming trees
- Performs manual labor such as loading trucks, digging ditches, cleaning basins, erecting signs and fences

- Maintains assigned vehicles in a clean condition, including running lights
- Maintains maintenance records for vehicles and equipment
- Prepares reports as required
- May perform routine building and grounds maintenance
- May operate other types of equipment
- Assists superintendent as directed

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- Willingness to respond to emergencies and work under adverse weather conditions is a must

- Winter call-in overtime is mandatory

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- None are required
- The ideal candidate should be adaptable, flexible, and dependable
- Must be motivated and willing to work hard to join this team

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver license
- Must pass routine drug tests
- Need to reside within 30 minutes of the town in order to respond to emergencies

PAY & BENEFITS:
- $26.50/hr depending on skill set
