This position is responsible for general oversight of the operations and activities of the department, including services provided in the East Central Region MHDS.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Oversight

  • Leads the evaluation, modification, and creation of operational processes alongside department staff and students
  • Manages day-to-day operations
  • Works closely with internal staff and departments to identify and meet program needs
  • Determines improvements and best practices
  • Facilitates strategic planning
  • Assists department director with the development of policies and procedures that provide high quality service to clients and environment for staff and students
  • Supervises department staff and is responsible for hiring, oversight, support, feedback, and discipline, with support from the Director of Crisis Response Services
  • Supports operations during crisis event response and provides support to staff and students as needed after crisis events, along with supervisory staff, Director of Crisis Response Services and Training / QA Manager (ex. Emergency response calls, child abuse reporting, etc.)

Board of Directors

  • Works with administrative staff in a manner that supports and guides the organizational goals
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with relevant administrative staff and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the program to function properly and make informed recommendations to the Board of Directors
  • Works with the GuideLink Center (Johnson County Access Center) in a manner that supports and guides CommUnity mobile crisis activities into programmatic activities of the GuideLink Center

Program Operations

  • Responsible for effective administration of departmental programs and special programming as communicated in contracts and grants
  • Responsible for hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff
  • Responsible for the management of contracts to assure CommUnity is meeting the requirements of the contracts and provides regular progress reports to the contract holders
  • Responsible, along with the Training / QA Manager, for analyzing relevant program data to inform process and procedure
  • Provides leadership for accrediting Mobile Crisis programs and maintaining standards for accreditation
  • Networks, along with relevant outreach staff, within the community to identify gaps in mental health and crisis intervention services. Collaborates with other organizations and funding sources to develop strategies and new programs to address those gaps
  • Works with the GuideLink Center (Johnson County Access Center) in a manner that supports and guides CommUnity mobile crisis activities into programmatic activities of the GuideLink Center

Financial Performance

  • Assist the Director of Crisis Response Services in fiscal management of the Mobile Crisis programs which includes operating within the approved budgeted, ensures maximum resource utilization and maintenance of programs in a positive financial position.
  • Participates in the budgeting process by communicating and providing budgetary requirements for all programming.

General

  • Participates in CommUnity Mobile Crisis presentations
  • Performs other duties not listed in this description.

Reports To: Director of Crisis Response Services

Supervises: Youth Services Coordinator, Mobile Crisis Response Coordinator, Law Enforcement Liaisons

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, plus 2 years of staff management experience
  • Special knowledge and skills: Supervisory and teaching skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, administrative skills, etc.
  • Familiarity with suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention
  • Experience making presentations to groups
  • Valid Iowa driver’s license and insurable under agency liability insurance
  • Dependable transportation
  • Complete training programs at first available opportunity
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends and overnights in emergencies.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to write reports and proposals
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and using electronic databases to gather and report information
  • Knowledge of grant and contract management
  • Dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Familiarity with managed care organizations
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Bi-lingual

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 – $67,000.00 per year
