Job Summary:

The System of Systems Modeling and Architecture (SMA) Directorate performs customer focused operational analysis, simulation, and architecture development activities within Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD). Supporting this mission are teams driving flexible integration solutions crossing all product areas (sensors, effectors, command and control, logistics and operations), developing tools and methods to evaluate system level studies and visualization based on customer requirements. Join this highly visible team and perform highly technical assignments, directly contributing to protecting our nation and our military members. Specifically, we are looking for a Section Leader (SL) for the Exo-Atmospheric Defense Analysis Team in the Mission Modeling and Analysis (MMA) Department. The applicant for this position would have team management responsibilities above the typical normal technical work. This Department’s goal is to produce credible analytic materials and advanced tools and methodologies to support, drive, and enable key business captures, current programs, special projects, and corporation-wide business opportunities. This position is in Tucson, AZ and is an On-Site role. You will manage a team of approximately 15 Engineers with diverse skills.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • You will manage a team of professionals to achieve SoS technical and business goals:
    • Provide effective operations and missiles analysis supporting all phases of the product, acquisition, pursue and development from front-end- of the business.
    • Concepts of operations and military utility analysis
    • Quick turn staffing for SMA and program projects
    • Become the “go-to” source for IRAD activity in the Tucson division across both SMA Departments
  • You will execute a portfolio of project work, as a Senior Level Ops Research Specialist and Analyst
  • You will provide guidance, direction, mentoring and influencing skills, and foster teamwork, interdependent execution, and growth for approximately 10 – 15 Engineers
  • You will participate in talent acquisition, goal setting, performance development, and appraisal for your team
  • You will ensure each direct report has suitable work assignments and opportunities for growth and career advancement
  • You will manage staffing and growth for your Section
  • You will collaborate with the Advanced Capabilities and Architecture (ACA) and the Missions Modeling and Analysis (MMA) Department Managers and Leads to employ team capabilities into the SMA operating model.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for up to 3 years of experience
  • With a bachelor’s degree listed above, you must have eight (8) years of documented professional experience in one or more of the following technical domains:
    • Systems engineering, architecture, and/or design
    • System performance and/or Mission Planning analysis
    • Algorithms and signal processing
    • Modeling and simulation (for example 3-DOF or 6-DOF)
    • Software architecture, design, development, integration, and verification
  • Additionally, you must have three (3+) years of documented work experience in at least one of the following RMD Mission areas:
    • Land Warfare and Air Defense, Naval Power, Air Power, Strategic Missile Defense, Advanced Technology
  • Furthermore, you must have at least two (2+) year experience working technical solutions in capture phases Gates 0-4 (strategy through proposal).
  • US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

    • Developing and mentoring new employees
    • Communicating with different levels of employees, departments, and/or customers
    • RMD section, function, or department management experience
    • Team building
    • Interviewing and hiring new employees
  • Experience in processing large statistical data sets
  • Experience in Military CONOPs
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement methods
  • Existing TS/SCI security clearance, or past qualification for this clearance
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with subordinates, customers, and senior managers throughout the company’s organizations
  • Strong mentoring skills, both technically and professionally
  • Experience and knowledge of the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS), Proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
