Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Naval Shipboard (NSM) Team as a Financial Analyst, providing primary Financial Planning and Analysis support to the NSMS Development Program Area. This position requires significant partnership with the NSM FP&A Manager, Program Business Manager, Programs Finance Leads, Functional Leads and the Naval Power FP&A team to ensure accurate and predictable forecasting.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

• Prepare weekly/monthly variance analysis to forecast
• Identify risk/opportunities and early warning of issues
• Consolidate financial data for various reviews (weekly bookings, sales, profit and cash calls, weekly Risk & Opportunity, Outlook, monthly forecast reviews, staffing planning, and various levels of internal leadership meetings)
• Assist in the Annual Operating Plan and Long-Range Plan (5 Year Plan) activities
• Engage with the Finance Managers to ensure accurate and timely updates to the forecast system (Rplan)
• Support monthly balance sheet review
• Ad hoc support in the consolidation and reporting of the financial metrics for the NSM Program Area
• Work under deadlines and constraints
• Multitask across a variety of tasks
• Interact with all levels/functions of the organization

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics or related
• 5 years of finance related work experience; OR an advanced related degree and 3 years of finance related work experience
• Financial Planning & Analysis experience
• Experience with financial forecasting, Risk & Opportunity management and/or variance analysis
• Experience with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Analysis for Office and Word)
• Experience with SAP Enterprise Planning / Reporting or similar tools
• You must currently possess an active and in-scope Secret U.S. security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

• Experience with the Rplan financial forecasting tool
• Experience with Microsoft Power Query
• Experience interfacing and conducting business with various functional disciplines
• Ability to quickly learn and utilize program management systems and tools, and independently create and accurately analyze cost data
• Great organizational skills in leading/coordinating program personnel toward common goals by setting priorities and working within deadlines
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to support the preparation and presentation of written briefs and summaries for internal communication
• Shows initiative by seeking ways to improve processes
