Job Summary/Overview

Metrology Operations Supervisor will lead a cross-functional team of technical, customer service, product management and training personnel. This position will focus on short- and long-term results that optimizes the department for the future by improving business functions, managing expenses, fostering customer relationships, developing strategic business plans, and enhancing the team's training experience.


Specific Job Duties

Plan, schedule, and coordinate Metrology projects to include cost estimates, resources, timelines, and deliverables on-time and under-budget.Contribute to software architecture, such as Calibration Maintenance, Metrology knowledge center, project management, and process maturation, that matches the growth of the business and supports the future-state vision.


Develops staff, maintains job descriptions, conducts 1:1s and performance reviews and manages tasks and duties for the team.Ensures ample employee coverage for day-to-day workload needs, recommending approval or rejection of requested time off.Reviews, updates, and develops SOPs, workflows, and training programs.Keeps all documentation up to date to meet the Quality Manual System and regulatory requirements.



Monitors and responds to incoming support requests by cross functional teams, or other communication that requires Metrology.Provides leadership for all personnel. Leadership capabilities include mentoring, motivating, coaching, and providing direction and clarity to employees.
Maintain and ensure the validity of the Equipment Calibration History Database and synchronization with other databases (manually or through integration).



Manage and ensure operational objectives for team members and provide regularly scheduled feedback throughout the year.Project management expertise, ideally with experience rolling out training plans, including all training logistics and budgets. Experience of developing a range of learning designs, conducting needs analysis including the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training.



Analyze data to form proposals for improvements (e.g., implementation of new technology).
Oversee contracts and providers for services to include security, parking, cleaning, and construction.
Maintain vendor lists and an organized accounting of all vendors/contractors and contractor numbers, etc.

Generate and maintain the Metrology metrics to support leadership strategy and decision making.
Identify training needs of team and its members; participate in the training to build skills and improve performance.



Communicate effectively with all levels in the organization; ability to communicate cross-functionally.
Assist in generating and maintaining expense and capital budgets for the department.

Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.


Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations and Technology Management or related field; Associates degree in Business Administration, Operations management or related field and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's degree; or High School diploma/General Education degree and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • 1 year of experience designing and implementing employee training programs.
    2 years of experience leading or directing people and/or project teams.
    2 years of experience in customer service management.
