THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to provide metallurgical support to Nyrstar Tennessee Mines – Mill Operations. Work with operations department in optimizing operation of the plants reducing costs, maximizing recovery through personal development and operating strategies. Utilize data and results from various studies and balances to manage metallurgical accounting and implement process improvements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Safety, Health, Environmental and Community
  • Act in accordance with Nyrstar SHEC Policies and Safety Management Standards; possessing and demonstrating a personal high level of safety and environmental awareness and commitment
  • Achieve or surpass safety objectives both personally and where applicable in your area
  • Develop personal awareness and promote awareness delivering work targets to prevent harm
  • Intervene when observing at risk behaviors
  • Ensure SHE guidelines are included in plans, decision making and embedded within your work and the work of others where you have influence
  • Serve as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)

Operations
  • Routinely maintain transparent, accurate metallurgical accounting including qualitative and quantitative processes contributing to the overall measurement of plant recovery and production
  • Monitor circuit performance contributing to improvement through plant and lab test work
    • Circuit studies / optimization / troubleshooting
    • Regular reporting such as daily, weekly and monthly
  • Provide technical support to the metallurgy and operations departments
  • Various projects involving metallurgical input including process optimization, process changes
  • Reagent inventory management and plant consumption accounting while considering potential improvements to reagent usage
  • Maintain high level of accuracy in plant mass scales (i.e. Conveyor weight meters)
  • Interact with other departments, mining, technical services, HSE, moving toward a common goal

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years’ experience
  • Degree in metallurgical engineering or comparative discipline
  • Combination of education, experience (hands on beneficial) will be considered

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills exercising high level of professionalism
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mineral processing and process units along with process accounting
  • Willingness to provide technical input along with a self-motivated approach in their own personal development
