A highly customer service–orientated position, the membership services representative assists current and potential PETA members with questions and requests, including explaining PETA's position on issues. This role also helps with recordkeeping. This is a great entry-level position for someone who is looking for a career in animal rights and membership development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for protecting animals and experience in customer service or member development.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- In consultation and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by PETA and its affiliates:
- Provide current and potential PETA members with excellent service through correspondence and telephone contact
- Follow up with mid-level PETA donors with appropriate acknowledgment of recent donations and support for donor enrichment
- Enter a variety of data into PETA’s member files
- Verify and complete missing information required for data entry
- Scan daily download files and send to Major Gifts for PETA's Vanguard acknowledgments
- Correspond with online donors regarding the PETA Presents program
- Assist with PETA's quarterly Town Hall calls as a telephone screener or collector
- Process and send return-donation correspondence
- Handwrite acknowledgment cards to be mailed to PETA donors, including those who have joined Sarah's Circle, as well as to recipients of special-gift donations
- Assist PETA and PETA Foundation staff members with questions
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
- Minimum of one year of data-entry experience
- Working knowledge of database systems
- Knowledge of animal rights issues and current PETA campaigns
- Demonstrated exceptional verbal communication skills
- Proficiency using a 10-key calculator
- Ability to type accurately at a minimum of 35 words per minute
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- COVID-19 full vaccination and booster recommended
