SUMMARY


The Medical Director is a high level executive position that provides oversight, expertise and leadership to ensure the delivery of integrated and high quality healthcare services delivered are efficient, cost effective and through an health equity lens to the communities we serve in partnership with the Chief Excutive Officer. Responsibilities also include the strategy, development and implementation of innovative clinical programs that include collaboration with Executive Officers and strategic business partners. Responsible for a wide range of duties and responsibilities that leads to population health and organization excellence. The Health Officer establishes and promotes professional, clinical, and ethical values and standards to which all clinical staff are expected to adhere. The Medical Directcor is responsible for the leadership of medical, pharmacy, and behavior health.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • MD, DO, or related Medical degree
  • Foreign medical graduates welcome
  • At least five (5) years of strong clinical operations experience
  • Non-profit organization experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of FQHC, community clinic standards and operations a plus

  • Ability to influence and stimulate others, and build constructive relationships throughout the organization
  • Knowledge of business practices and financial acumen
  • Skill in researching, preparing and presenting comprehensive reports
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, patients, providers, public and external agencies
  • Competence with computer systems essential to include familiarity with Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and EPIC
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others and communicate and sell the vision and the future of PCCS


RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership

  • Works closely with the Executive Officer and Executive team to carry out the organization’s strategic plans and policies as established by the board of directors
  • Lead providers in realizing operational clinical quality measurement goals
  • Assures the organization and its mission, programs and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
  • Provides strategic leadership by focusing on visions and distinctive strategies that result in excellent short and long-term performance in clinical, service and financial outcomes
  • Identifies and assesses potential business alliances that are consistent with PCCS’s strategic vision
  • Provides the medical and health vision and advice on the development and implementation of new lines of business
  • Oversee design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of medical programs and services
  • Formulates clinical and business policies and planning recommendations to the Executive Officer
  • Provides an environment of quality and cost improvement that is data driven and develops systems to review utilization of resources and objectively measure outcomes of care
  • Provides on-going counsel and advice to the Executive Officer on clinical, financial, and administrative matters
  • Develops and prioritizes goals/objectives and work plans, including the definition and measurement of outcomes, which are consistent with the overall organizational strategy and mission
  • Provides oversight and leadership for all provider education programs
  • Participates in annual strategic planning for the organization
  • Conducts themselves as key PCCS ambassador in community and external meetings
  • Supports clinical student training

Provider Operations

  • Provides direction and oversees the functions of the providers including medical, pharmacy, behavioral health, and operations
  • Provides clinical care as a percentage
  • Assures the establishment, annual review and updating of operational policies, procedures, in collaboration with the providers team
  • Works with provider leadership (such as Behavioral Health, and Dental Services) to ensure responsive, efficient operations
  • Collaboratives with operational and clinical leadership to ensure appropriate provider staffing levels at each clinic
  • Works with the operation leads to ensure providers have sufficient resources and staffing for successful clinical operations
  • Development of staff including, SUD, Behavior Health Director, and Clinic Providers
  • Participates in the completion of grant applications and reports
  • Ensures the provision of high quality, cost efficient medical, dental and behavioral health services
  • Collaborates with others within the organization to ensure the success of Compliance, Risk Management and Quality improvement projects/programs
  • Set provider standard practices and performances measurements (including metrics and business operations)
  • Conducts and provide guidance for regular peer reviews

Finance

  • Manages budgets in collaboration with the Financial Officer
  • Develops and supports strategies to maximize opportunities to increase patient revenue
  • Reviews and provides inputs to the weekly provider productivity report. Develops plans to achieve goals. Takes corrective action, proactively, to meet goals. Manages plan to assure success
  • Develops the annual medical and health budgets as requested
  • Assures the implementation of cost effective and efficient patient care service delivery strategies
  • Provides conservation to executive team on business and practice management.
