Job Summary:

The Medical Billing Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and supervision of ADVOCATE’s Charge department employees. This position may participate in any or all aspects of the charge entry, charge processing, and translation mapping functions of the department. This position is available as either fully remote or working out of our Dublin, OH office.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor and evaluate internal staff and outsourcing group performance.
  • Proactively monitors operational performance indicators.
  • Works with internal Client Manager and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Balancing workload for all staff appropriately.
  • Assist all staff and answer questions regarding charge processing, charge entry, or clients
  • Subject Matter Expert to answer questions about the receipt of billing data and the specifics on how and why it was posted to the billing system.
  • Provides ongoing continuing education related to charges.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculator, and copier.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in medical billing, medical collections, and/or medical billing systems required.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding or medical billing processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of third-party billing and reimbursement processes.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory role.

Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.

Work Environment: Office environment. Moderate noise.
