The Clinical Service Director (RN) Float, under the direction of the Vice President, Care Delivery, supervises all day-to-day operations of the Interdisciplinary teams and participant outcomes at different sites as needed. The role will serve as a backup for the Service Directors at the Clinics. The role serves as the Director of Patient Services (DPS) for the LHCSA along with coordination of the multi-disciplinary integrated care in the community, Day Health Center, Diagnostic & Treatment Center, and throughout the continuum of care. Coordinates with all Managers to ensure all metrics logs are complete and provide support and assistance as required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all routine medical assistant functions with consistency, according to policy/best practice and expected service standards, while adhering to the participants’ right for privacy and dignity

o Consistently and accurately takes and documents in the EMR participant’s blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight.

  • Draws blood and collects specimens according to Infection Control protocols, per MD order and consistent with all other established policies/best practices.

o Processes specimens according to policy in preparation for pick-up

o Identifies specimen correctly

o Matches request form with specimen

o Appropriately centrifuges specimens if required

o Refrigerates specimen according to policy/acceptable practice

  • Accurately and without delay orders laboratory tests as per physician’s written orders

o Tracks test results

o Informs physician in writing of canceled lab tests

o Schedules Home Draw Labs

o Obtains applicable reports on an ongoing basis via software

  • Consistently tracks lab supply inventory and orders supplies as necessary while at all timed adhering to the approval process
  • At all times, fully stocks examination offices with all required medical supplies.
  • Performs EKGs according to policy/best practice and expected service standards while always adhering to participants’ rights.
  • Performs routine tests such as dipstick, blood finger stick glucose, and INR according to policy/best practice ad expected service standards while always adhering to participants’ rights.
  • At all times, provides services according to established safety procedures and infection control standards as per OSHA and CLHC Health Services policy and procedure and provides services with due regard for the health, safety, and well-being of the participant
  • At all times, maintains strict confidentiality of any/all participant information.
  • Transports participants via wheelchair or accompanies ambulatory patients within the Pace Center to and from Diagnostic Treatment Center
  • Transfers and offers assistance during transferring of participants into and out of wheelchairs, toilets, beds, and other equipment (e.g., Hoyer lift)
  • Assist participants requiring help with toileting and other ADL care
  • Assist MD as requested, including translation and set up of equipment for examination and clean up when necessary
  • Understands that he/she is responsible for seeking feedback, instruction, and/or additional education with regard to any/all aspects of his/her job responsibilities that are not clear
  • Translate as needed
  • Assists with customer issues and grievances in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner. This includes working with the other departments to resolve the source of the problem(s).
  • Assist with the coordination of follow-up visits and transportation for participants coming into and departing from the medical practice
  • Provides coverage for the Front Desk Area as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Medical technician training. Vision screening training.
  • At least 1 year of venipuncture experience, preferably with the elderly population. Must be computer literate
  • Medical Assistant Certification (must be certified Phlebotomist); EKG, Certified Nursing Attendant certificate required.
  • Superior customer service skills, friendly, outgoing personality, tactful and courteous
  • Must possess strong interpersonal/people skills
  • Must embrace the role of a true “care-taker”
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to use all equipment as dictated by the position
  • Must have the ability to concentrate on moderate details and adapt to frequent interruptions and changes
  • Must have the ability to attend to tasks lasting from 10-90 minutes
  • Must be self-directed with the ability to work with or without supervision
  • Must demonstrate the ability to establish a good rapport with participants and peers is essential
  • Must possess pleasant telephone manner
  • Must be able to work weekends if required
