We have an immediate opening for an experienced machine designer with excellent SolidWorks skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to mentor and train.

Summary of position

• Operate SolidWorks Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to produce production-ready drawings
• Navigate the AutoCAD environment to get information and translate to 3D models
• Update existing drawings
• Develop complete and accurate bills of materials
• Coordinate with production to ensure designs are manufacturable and drawings are complete
• Create master models that detail the design of the machine
• Mentor other, more junior designers
• Check drawings produced by other designers, ensuring company standards are met
• Develop new machine designs from concepts

essential Duties and rESPONSIBILITIES

• Create solid models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks
• Work under the direction of the Engineering Manager
• Prepare complete and accurate bill of materials
• Consistently produce design documentation of all kinds that conforms to corporate standards and best practices
• Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies and to reduce production problems

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency in SolidWorks software, including:
• the ability to understand and edit top-down (or in-context) assembly models;
• the ability to understand and edit models with multiple configurations
• the ability to navigate the Product Data Management (PDM) software;
• the ability to create drawings suitable for manufacture
• Understanding of manufacturing processes used in heavy steel fabrication and electrical automation fields
• Understanding of AutoCAD and the ability to perform some intermediate functions
• Detail-oriented approach to accuracy and completion of projects
• Proficiency in both oral and written communication
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel; ability to type 40+ words per minute is a benefit
• Excellent attendance and punctuality
• Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures
• Position requires frequent to constant sitting; occasional standing, walking, lifting (up to 20lb)
