We are seeking a highly creative Marketing & Event Coordinator to join our awesome team here at Fairlawn! The ideal candidate will be a creative self-starter radiating positivity who can adapt to the ever-changing marketing needs of a student portfolio by creating and executing the Smile Marketing Calendar, including planning and executing impactful in-person and virtual events.

Based in Champaign, IL this SMILE properties team member will be accountable for creating and executing successful marketing and residents events to lease properties within our 1,600+ unit student portfolio on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).

What will you do?

  • Exemplify the core values of Be Kind, Be Flexible, Own It and Always Improve
  • Create and/or execute integrated marketing campaigns including web, email, social media, digital, print, and display
  • Coordinate production of campaign materials, including print, environment, merchandise, and display content, including sourcing vendors, cost estimates, and bids
  • Coordinates and executes all promotional events and oversees marketing, including but not limited to, the overall coordination and logistics, budget management, planning, negotiation and execution of events, production and distribution of printed materials, point-of-purchase displays, prize packages, scheduling of all promotions and coordinating with technical operations. Uses experience and skills to tailor events based on the profile of the portfolio, with a goal of maximizing the return on investment.
  • Utilizes successful marketing skills to conduct overall marketing and property assessments, determines marketing collateral, customizes for presence on website, resident communications, signage in gyms etc.
  • Administrate Smile’s community platform, Modern Message
  • Purchase items, stage, and maintain the model apartment(s)
  • Design and post the apartment vacancy listings, including the creation of unique copy updating photos and videos, and highlighting specials
  • Audit company website, Google current listings, and third-party internet listing services for accuracy identify additional marketing opportunities and provide insights with competitor analysis
  • Skilled at juggling multiple projects, work under deadlines with last minute edits.
  • Learn and comply with all Fair Housing Laws – (We provide training)
  • Pivot, roll up your sleeves, and jump in where needed!
Requirements:

Who you are – We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have 1 year of marketing experience (student housing or property management experience a plus)
  • Have a bachelor’s degree OR four years of marketing in real estate or property management (student housing preferred)
  • Effectively utilizes Microsoft Office, Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tick Tock, mobile apps and other software programs (Canva, Adobe, etc) and social media to drive online marketing efforts.
  • Must present your marketing portfolio during later-round interviews
  • Demonstrate superior attention to detail, high energy, and a positive attitude
  • Have an ability to give and receive real-time feedback with a positive mindset
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have an ability to work independently and also to work closely with other team members

Some additional things you will need:

  • A valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle. Limited in-town usage of personal vehicle for errands and out-of-County personal mileage reimbursed at the Federal rate
  • Ability to work evenings & weekends for marketing events, as needed
  • Availability to work longer hours and weekends during department and company peak seasons
  • Must be able to perform the physical functions of the position, not limited to: ability to execute events, ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer, complete physical inspections, and deliver promotional and collateral material
