IMMEDIATE OPENING: PART-TIME FARMER’S MARKET MANAGER

Otsego 2000, an environmental and preservation advocacy non-profit, seeks to fill the part-time position of Cooperstown Farmers’ Market Manager beginning May 27. The farmers’ market manager is responsible for onsite management and oversight of the year-round Cooperstown Farmers’ Market Saturdays year-round and Tuesdays July-September; as well as vendor recruitment, scheduling, and communications with vendors and customers; planning market day events and activities including music and seasonal activities; collection of vendor fees and administration of food assistance programs (SNAP, SNAP Match, Cooperstown Food Pantry vouchers, etc), and volunteer coordination. The Cooperstown Farmers’ Market, a dynamic community hub established over 30 years ago, features over 40 farmers, artisans, and producers from within 50 miles of Cooperstown. All products sold at the market must be raised, grown and/or made by the vendor.

The successful candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a keen interest in local, sustainable agriculture and economic development, and the ability to work creatively in a team and individually, with people from all backgrounds. Sound knowledge of agriculture and farming practices is important. This position is a part-time hourly position, 20-24 hours a week. $21/hour.
